Two days ago the World Surf League announced that men and women will be getting the SAME prize money across ALL surf competitions. With this decision, the WSL is the first US based global sports league to award equal prize money! I couldn't be more happy about this milestone in surf history, sports history and women's history. -------
With pure stoke, I illustrated this surf babe inspired by the indomitable Rell Sunn, American surf champion and a true pioneer in the world of women's surfing. She continued to surf long after her diagnosis with cancer, but eventually lost that battle in 1998. Endurance, perseverance, strength, and femininity. Here's to all women (and the men) who continue to carry the torch for equal opportunities, equal pay, equal rights, equal stoke.

I just really enjoy drawing women doing rad women things.

More women doing radical womanly things

Surfboards. They come in ALL shapes and sizes; finding the right one for you requires some (sometimes lots) of trial and error and you never forget your first (but that doesn't mean it was good); the right one will make the effort worthwhile and carry you through the ups and downs (the bigger the better, really); its not a "leash" yo, its a secure connection; and hey, sometimes your best can be found online- buuut it takes some searching. And patience.

Based on the Rolling Stones article where in she speaks about her her struggles with sexual abuse, her body image and the public eye, and her desire to grow wings to rise above it all. Her tattoo, “FHW” is an acronym for “Fiona has wings”.
